The California Legislature is considering a proposal that would impose a 3 percent withholding on all payments to independent contractors. This includes Realtors, taxi drivers, many in the construction trades. It would also impact more than 1.8 million direct sellers who rely on their modest direct selling income to support their families. In most cases the amounts withheld would be in excess of what is actually owed - effectively giving the government an interest-free loan for the better part of a year - just so they can make it look on paper as though they are collecting additional revenue.
So I guess you used to be an IC and now you are a billing service?

I was an IC for a long time, and this withholding seems like a good idea. I know some ICs avoid their tax obligation by not paying taxes on cash payments. Often, it's not even intentional - they just forget to record small cash payments. A tax like this would motivate more ICs to use some kind of billing service, keep better records, and pay their fair share.

The weasals in Sacramento just don't get it...STOP SPENDING WHAT YOU DONT HAVE! We need more income, so we are working direct selling careers on top of a primary career. Remove these leaches from office now!!!

I absolutley agree with everything that was said in this video.. The governement expects us to back them up and borrow money but they don't realize its taking from us and our families and we are barely hanging on as it is.
