"I, Smartphone" is a video based on the essay "I, Pencil" penned by Leonard Read in 1958. "I Pencil" has had a lasting impact on how we think about the market process. Why would the Institute for Faith, Work & Economics care about how a smartphone is made, and why would we want you to care? Because God has given us the market process as the most powerful tool we have in a fallen world to serve each other by using our gifts.

Yes, that's right.

Smartphones allow thousands of dispersed people from across the globe to bring their gifts to serve people they don't even know, and most likely never will know.

I do enjoy the updated take on "I, Pencil" but I think it loses one of the great insights of the original: that no single person knows how to make something as simple a wooden pencil. A smartphone seems infinitely more complex and therefore it is unsurprising that it would take many, many people to be able to create it (though the fact that they do so without central planning is presented clearly here).

Retarded argument. All these "arguments" have been disproved by evolutionist writers. Try hard, Jesus freaks.

So let's put them out of work, no income. Go teach them. Where will this miraculous government money pop up to take care of them? Socialism?. How about communism for the common good? How many from those countries have you sponsored into your country?

As a matter of fact, since private individuals and corporations invented/made what you're typing on, get rid of it. That would really show you're sorry for supporting near-slavery conditions. Ditto TV, clothes, components of your car, etc..

That is where you are wrong. They do have the power to change their conditions. No one has forced them into this work. There are a hundred other countries they could get to and millions of people and charities who want to help, all the product of a free market. The only thing disgusting here is people who think these people are victims of a society. They are only the victims of themselves.

And yet they have to turn thousands of people away every time FOXCONN opens their doors for another job fair. Unlike us, who are living under multiple generations (now eroding, thanks to the mass adoption of chlidish legislate-life mentalities like yours) of almost-capitalism, these people are starving for opportunity and willing to work and save 40% of their incomes. Banning child-labour in Thailand resulted in 300%+ increase in child prostitution. Grow the hell up.
