Just don't leave the money on the table. $1 increments based on how much the entire meal costs is a good way to gauge how much to tip based on quality of service.

I always leave at least 15%, it's up to the waiter to persuade me to tip 20% or more.

Yeah I started working at a restaurant at 14 and by 17 I was the manager, nice small ma and pop restaurant but I made a very decent living as a cook.

No your right, it says that in canada too, im a chef and every fuking stupid employer tries to get you to sign a contract that waves overtime pay and that server thing, and it is illegal but they get away with it all the time. Ive had to sue 3 of my former employers to get my over time pay. Its fucking ridiculous!!!

United states law says you *must* make minimum wage(sorry I forget that not everyone is going to be from the same area so I assumed it was common law).

Can't say for other countries but if your tip doesn't put you at minimum wage the employer by law must pay you to make up the difference.

pff, no employer would do that. Cooks dont get overtime pay either. Restaurants are fucking ruthless.
