iPod touch Home Button Broken

I was using my (first generation) iPod touch one day when all of a sudden, the home button refused to work. Too bad it's out of warranty. Hopefully I'll be able to convince somebody at the Apple Store to let me get it fixed for free. I'll post another short clip after I do that.

on my itouch, i have to press it really hard for it to work. so will it work if i drop water on the home button?

@niceweekend14122008 No. Never put water on your device. Water doesn’t evaporate quickly like alcohol does, and it might cause some of the parts inside to rust.

@TheFieldwar55 That's what worked for me, because there was rust on the contacts inside the button. Your button might be broken from some other reason, but it doesn't hurt to try. ;)

@Dachshund66967 They wanted to charge me around $250 to fix it. Apparently they just give you a new one, but since I have the older generation, I might as well get a new one. Anyway, it started working by itself, and then it stopped working again. I got some rubbing alcohol and poured a couple drops on the button. Then I kept on pressing it (quickly) for a few minutes. After that, I haven't had problems at all.
