@cattaps What I meant was, is this the exact sauce they use in the restaurant? In his book, he says that there are as many recipes as there are cooks who used to work there. He even admits that the one he used in the book is one of those variations, but not the real thing.
Yes. Gibson's has always been given credit for this sauce, also known as "Alabama White Sauce." I never just took Chris' word for it. I checked around for 30 years until I was satisfied his BBQ place legacy was responsible! (I have lived in North Alabama for 47 years, and was raised on the stuff.)
Gibson's white sauce sucks and I'm from Alabama. Home made or the local BBQ is the only way to go. Gibson's almost tastes sour or something.
