Latte Art -- from bean to cup

After several weeks and many empty milk cartons, I finally stomped out a good pour. I have to thank all my friends and family who helped me tweak the final video production. Most of the video was shot while I had our now 10 week old baby boy KOLBE in the body sling (that's the only way I can get away with spending so much time at the espresso machine). He likes the sound of the grinder, he's going to make a good barista some day. Thanks for watching the film and good luck to everyone who entered the contest.

Cool vid. great job.

people do that because they want to make sure that the portafilter is filled with coffee ground and that's the easiest way, so when the shot comes out they will have good a result with a right amount of coffees.
btw that was a nice skinny rosetta.

Why waste all those grounds??? I see people do it all the time. Beans are much too expensive to waste like that. Simply grind a bit, tap the portafilter to settle the grounds and do this until you have the amount you need. Pure ignorance. Later!
