Needless to say, that misfortune was a blessing in surprise. Yzerman ended up becoming the greatest captain in NHL history, and considering his resilience and dedication, possibly the best captain in sports history. We absolutely needed him for those three Cups. He's the reason we got back to the heights we're at now.
