  • Well, that is not a Danish dance. Those are Norwegian Bunads and it is a Hallingdance.

Why the poster would claim it is Danish I do not know... lots of cool Danish "folkedanser".

  • someone who claimed to know what dance it was told me it was a Danish dance... at first I said it was Norwegian (because I took the video at a Scandinavian festival in Junction City Oregon where a majority of the residents are Norwegian). He was a little upset so I changed the title to "Danish".... are you telling me now that I should change it back? I will gladly do so.

  • This isn't a norwegian dance, but it's a danish dance, in danish called "Bette mand i knibe" which means little man in trouble.

  • They are simply wearing the norwegian folk costume and dancing a danish dance.

  • @theosar It's revenge for Danish opression of Norway for 500 years. Leve Noreg!

  • Bunads, the Norwegian folk costumes, doesen't excist i Denmark. These are Norwegian folk dancers, but the dance is influenced by sweden folk dance. ;) I have been dancing Norwegian folk dance for 11 years. And "theosar": This is not Hallingdance. This is folk dance. In Norway there is hundreds of different folk dances. Halling is just one of them, but it is the most known in other countries. Therefore, some people thinks that all Norwegian folk dance is Halling. ;)

  • There is at least one dance common in Scotland which incorporates just this move.

  • really? That`s so cool! I wanted to have Norwegian dancers in my wedding to represent both cultures (my hubby`s and mine) but it wasn`t possible unfortunately, I think all the guest would have been mesmerized! They like the bunads the Norwegian guests were wearing that night ^

  • No, I'm just a dancer :) been dancing norwegian folkdance for 16ish years :)
