  • Ever wonder why Secretariat is always remembered?

Because he keeps up with history and time with his thunderous speed

while the weak tremble and fall into the abyss of history.

truly a one of a kind, that history cannot maintain.

because Secretariat is too fast to be held in History's chains.

He runs on with no fear whatsoever,

    only to encounter a race

    and win it forever.

    RIP BIG RED

  • Pushing dirt with power hooves, throwing grit and sand

Big Red runs like a savage beast to make his final stand

Three years old and fast as lightning, this great horse proves his speed

Twenty six horse lengths in front of the pack, Secretariat hails the finest steed.

  • @dickran2142battle I worked on the track as an exercise boy. I never rode him, but I saw every race Secretariat ever ran. He had a 23' stride in full run. He is and probably will be the greatest horse that any of us alive then and now will ever see. I was at this race and I will never forget it.

  • @adele375 It's actually for many reasons, not least of which Secretariat "the tremendous machine" was given the highest ever rating score for winning this race, far higher than any other horse has ever achieved in the recorded history of hose racing, in Beyer or Timeform.

  • @Dannykeith46

in Belmont , Secretariat had shown (?) Princequillo's tremendous stamina and that his mother's big heart . but my favorite performance of him is in Preakness . from last to first in 200 yards , in the first turn . that was raw power . his capacity to generate such acceleration in turns was , is and probably will be unique among race horses . some say that was possible because he was a "lefty" horse .

  • @bulllea - Secretariat defied the laws of race horsing physics, streching himself beyond the standard limits of what a thorougbred race horse should be able to achieve. Unquestionably, the most incredible thoroughbred that ever graced a race track!

  • The music in the backround, along with watching the movie about 5 times a week, then just watching this I couldnt stop crying for an hour :)

  • I jus wonder does God have a huge field in the skies jus for his famous racehorses. But for Secretariat maybe even a more special place

  • "He is moving like a tremendous machine"

When I heard that in the 2010 movie, "Secretariat" and then found out it was the exact quote from the commentator at this point, my heart just blew.

  • @KenyxStudios Horses have the same fears we do. Sometimes horses wont race because they fear they might fail or fall. Sometimes they wont go into their own stable if it means being alone on a stormy night. They get nervous, they jump at loud noises and they get stressed. Secretariat had no fear because he knew what was going to happen the day of this race and he took it all head on.

  • @dickran2142battle You say no fear whatsoever... What exactly does a horse fear?

  • The greatest jus the greatest the more horses now and days who can't win the triple crown makes Secretariat even more special. The name even fits his character...jus powerful.
