  • Watching March of the engineers and now this, I'm curious as to what exactly is the UQ law revue. Is it just a social thing done once a year by the law students or??

  • Yeah, the law revue is an annual sketch show the University of Queensland Law students put on, with live skits, songs, and short films. A lot of other universities and colleges over the world do them as well.

March of the Engineers was one we did in 2006 for the revue, but anything else engineer-related wasn't for the revue. I did those for a website called "Drill In" which was to encourage people to consider careers in mining and engineering.

  • That's what happens when stupidity tries to copy a good idea and makes the whole concept hideous... I would rather watch my cat being eaten by an anaconda... that would be more entertaining...

  • Mate, even *I* think watching your cat being eaten by an anaconda would be more entertaining than mine. :D

  • this video makes the mining industry look like a joke...

  • huh!!!!!!!!!ok...

  • Just finished up a mine design today to make some lucky mine owner $700,000,000+ over the next couple of years...crazy huh?

  • @spydiscythe Yes, sometimes. Not all mining engineers get jobs mining ores that require explosive use to extract the ore, and thus, may not work with explosives. Many, many, on the other hand, do utilize explosives since most deposits are very stubborn in situ and it's a lot easier on the mining equipment.

  • @duguder That is a very very crude definition of mining. Many places do use explosives (usually ANFO) but many also do not. Ore is very rarely backhoe'd straight on to a conveyor without usually being transported via truck (Cat 797 or Liebherr T282 for example) to a breaker/crusher before being transported. For the most part, as far as the labor goes, it is pretty straight forward and one day robots will be mining everything. Mark my words. Robots don't plan mines very well though.

  • @adhiluhur The University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is a very prestigious and recognized around the world. We won Mining Games (a competition between all mining school across Canada) last year.

  • @adhiluhur University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada is a great place to study. Widely recognized across the world and won the Mining Games within Canada last year.
