2001 IROC Daytona

The 25th anniversary season of IROC kicks off at Daytona International Speedway. Dale Earnhardt and Eddie Cheever get together going into turn 1 late in the race and Earnhardt makes the save of Speedweeks. Sadly this was the last competitive race he completed. The other clip of this race on Youtube was also captured by me and put on the old TBK forum years ago.

@NascarNixon People complain that NASCAR is "too much" like IROC. With the new COT body style comingout next year, each isn't going to be the same.

@NascarNixon I agree, but that is part of why NASCAR implemented the COT. The idea that if everyone uses the same car, it will be all driver skill and as even as possible.

But I agree the competition was great. I remember seeing them in person at Chicagoland and watching Ryan Newman going on to the apron to make it 4-wide in the trioval. One of the greatest races I've ever been too.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. NASCAR needs to be more like IROC. The competition was insane.
