I heard when Bisqick gets old it can turn to poison.

Beans don't keep the best.... they loose the oils in them that cause them to not cook properly and taste poor

@teaglet I use my hair flattening iron but most people do use an iron. They'll just use a piece of board (2x4) to lay the mylar bag top across and then iron as you would a shirt. Depending on the type of food and how well it's packaged and the environment it's kept in (temperature), it can last up to 30 years. Sugar will last indefinitely but do NOT use Oxygen Absorbers w/sugar or you'll end up with a BRICK of sugar. It'll still be good but it'll be a pain in the arse...

@AnhyMedia The point of the buckets is to prevent rodents from chewing thru the Mylar bag. The mylar bag protects the food itself.

you can use hand warmers as well, they activate once moisiture is found and will absorb all the mositure in the sealed bucket

I want my 10 minutes and 19 seconds back

What's the point of these buckets?

he didn't show how he ironed the bags. how long will the food last?
The O2 absorbers will not absorb all of the atmospheric content in the bag. Air is roughly 20% oxygen and 80% Nitrogen. O2 absorbers will only absorb oxygen, so you're only pulling a 20% vacuum on the bags. There will be some "air" left in the bags but it is inert and will not harm the food contents.

Just an idea: Make the buckets with a smaller amount of rice, beans etc. BUT put some of each into a bucket. So instead of opening a huge thing of beans that goes bad before you reach the bottom, you open a month (estimate) of supplies in a bucket, instead of opening 5 buckets to get a little of each supply. I hope that makes sense. Great vids!
