People keep talking about the Layla riff and I kind of see what they're on about, but I recognise it from Hacketts later instrumental track "Omega Metallicus" which must be where the idea got used instead when these tracks got shelved.

nice track, but... Layla

lol, layla.

Is God playing?
yes..

@SPeacock Now it makes total sense why it sounded like that short lived project of his. Thanks for the info.

@vivelavidarocka This song was originally written during the GTR sessions but the two Steves (Hackett and Howe) split up, and GTR folded. Steve Hackett later reworked this song as a solo track - which finally saw the light of day in 2000.

@ajittffcure When May worked with Hackett, he said it made him have to relook at the whole way he was playing guitar. IMHO May is a lovely 'little fill' guitarist, Hackett is a seriously top notch one.

A pastiche of Layla by clapton

@robertoocmunicacion No dude. Layla es de cuando Eric toco con Duane Allman en Derek and the Dominos en 1970. Pero no es plagio. Se parece si.

Sounds like GTR.

Awesome track. Did you know that Brian May was influenced by Steve Hackett's style of guitar playing? I read this in a documentary or interview somewhere. But, I think Brian has got his own way of playing guitar. Anyway, I admire both the guitarists.
