  • Latino or Latina refer to Latin American peoples. The word itself comes from Latinoamericano. It describes both the geographical place (Latin America: South, Central and North America, and its non-contiguous territories and Islands), and the Romance (Latium) origin language spoken in those countries. Most IMPORTANTLY is to respect how people choose (or don't choose to) define themselves.

  • PRA' MARILON O português que escrevou não esteve arrastado. Felicitacões! Leia Os Lusiades para conhecer mais a fondo a nossa cultura luso-brasileira.

  • The Romans called present day Spain & Portugal "Hispania", so are Portuguese speakers Hispanic? Well, Portugal acquired the name "Lusitania", so are Portuguese speakers "Lusitanos"? (Read "Os Lusiades" by Luiz Camões, Portugal's equivalent to Spain's "Don Quijote" or Britain's "Beowulf"). Are Portuguese speakers "Latinos"? Yes, but so are Romanians, Moldovans Catalonians, Andorrans, Occitans and YES French, Italian & Spanish-speakers!

  • Brazilians are Latin!

Some will refer to themselves as Afro-Latino or White-Latino....but at the end of the day they are Latinos even tho they speak Portuquese, that doesnt mean anything because Puertorican are still Latinos even tho they are part of the U.S

  • im afro brazilan and no we are not hispanic, were brazilian, there are many countries in south america that don't speak spanish

  • Brazilian-Portuguese!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I see some PR and Mexicans helping to enforce this ideia by saying their race is latin/hispanic or saiyng thinks like "oh shes not ehite but hispanic" or "no i'she's not black but latina" etc...

  • For what i can see watching USA movies and programs, many people in USA beleives that terms such as "latin american", "latino", or "hispanic" have a racial or ethincal conotation when its only linguistical(romance languages), to some extent cultural and maybe religios (predominant catholic latin america VS predomiant protestant anglo-saxon america).

  • I'm curious to know what "single race" you refer Puerto Rican's identifying with? I was raised to acknowledge and embrace the Taino, African and Spanish blood that runs through my veins and throughout every aspect of my culture.

  • oh i get it now. Its ok, your brazilian portuguese is fine(at least write is..) betther than my english anyways...

  • Sim, mais fui criado aqui nos Estados Unidos desde aos dois anos idade, então meu português é um pouqinho arrastado.
