@bravenewwizard zoom is called compiz enhanced zoom, you can either disable follow mouse in recordmydesktop or u can use the compiz enhanced zoom to lock in place

and it comes to be very difficult to find anything worth to see just because of those bloody compiz effects you mentioned and other videos about all the same boring stuff.

i was going to make some screencasting for myself and share it only if i get something interesting.

i switched to linux from windows completely as a use about a week ago (having solid development background) so nowadays i'm seeking almost constantly for interesting screencasts where people either show their way to work effectively (not just showing stupid visual settings) or teach useful bash recipes etc..
