This video I talk about and demonstrate some of my sharpening techniques.

!-Always use safety gear, common sense, and be sure your concentrating on what your doing. If you feel unsafe or unsure about doing something, stop, find someone who has done it before to help you or find another way to do it.

  • Can you use a Japanese wet stone to sharpen them?

  • I haven't had to use a stone on mine yet, if they get nicked up and really dull then I would use a stone.

  • nice video thx! im just getting into carving myself im a blacksmith by trade. i didnt get a good view of your blade covers what are they made of?

  • Those Del Stubbs are great knives. Now if they could only make me carve like you do. I guess I just need more practice. Thanks for all your informative videos.

  • The wood under the leather is quatersawn red oak or rock maple so it is very hard and very flat. It doesn't dent or wear from stopping and I use the flat strops for all of my tools from chisels and gouges to straight knives and hook knives.

  • like does your strop become not flat anymore cuz of the way the hook knives move

  • is that strop ONLY for your hook knives or can you still use it for your strait blades?

  • Carl .. you have discovered the addiction of making videos . great job
