*~*Story about the parents and the kittens*~*
---------------------------------------------------------------
For about a year now I've been taking care of a feral female cat named Misty and a feral male cat named Smokey. They became my babies lol, I built a huge trust level with them. When I first found Misty in my yard she was starving, her ribs were showing, she looked sick and would get occasional nose bleeds.
She didn't look healthy at all and didn't look like she would make it for much longer without some help. She was going through our garbage cans and we at first thought it was raccoons. When I first tried feeding her she wouldn't go near the food and water bowls so I brought the bowls to her and it all began with that. Before I knew it her husband I call him showed up my big boy named Smokey. He is extremely skittish and shy and nervous. He was probably the most difficult cat to get close to.
After sitting with them and feeding them for a couple of weeks, even in the winter standing in the cold at night to give them food and make them warm beds with blankets to lay in they began to truly trust me. I'm able to pet them, pick them up, they follow me everywhere I go around the yard. They are so smart they know their names now, Smokey loves being called big boy lol. Nobody else in my family can get near them or touch them, they don't run away from my mom anymore though. Throughout their year living in my yard...some events took place and she ended up pregnant.
I never had a pregnant cat before so I had to learn the signs and how to care for her and what not. I spoiled her and fed her well during her pregnancy so the kittens would be healthy. She had 3 healthy girls and I named them Dottie, Sniffles, and Abigale. Dottie is the runt and looks exactly like her mother, Sniffles is the oldest and has a black nose, she and Dottie can pass as twins but when you know them long enough you can see the differences in looks and personality very well. Sniffles is the biggest and is the curious nosy one. She's always getting into stuff. Dottie is the adventurous and out going kitten, she's brave and likes new experiences.
Abigale is like her father in looks and personality, very timid and quiet, she's a lap cat who loves to be pet and she loves food. She's gonna be fat if I don't watch her eating habits. She gets the food hogging from her mom though lol. She'll even put her feet in the food bowl to keep others from eating out of it, its hilarious. Misty created a huge canopy like nest in my backyard it was cool and a really beautiful place for the babies to live and grow up.
I couldn't see the kittens yet for a while until they were able to walk. One day she just brought them out and walked up to me like the proud parent showing off her children. The kittens stayed in the nest with their mom and dad for about 9 weeks old but then some more events took place and I was afraid she was gonna get pregnant again. I already have two house cats so it makes 7 cats in total which is funny my favorite and lucky number is 7 lol. So I got misty and Smokey fixed, cleaned up and got them all their vaccines and was happy to hear they were both perfectly healthy cats.
The kittens are now house cats permanently and live with me. They have their own big room and it faces the nest, it has a big glass slider door so they can see their mommy and daddy whenever they want, and their parents know they are here and look at them too. Misty seems more relieved to not have to nurse anymore lol and Smokey really loves his babies and lays by the window a lot. It was really heart breaking for me to take them away I cried like a baby.
I was afraid of breaking the trust with Misty and Smokey as well but it didn't phase a bit. The kittens had fleas, ear mites and Sniffles my little curious one had a parasite in her throat that might have killed her if I didn't take her to the vet when I did. Now Misty and Smokey relax in my yard and chase butterflies and enjoy their lives in leisure while the kittens are happily all together playing and growing healthy and big and keeping everyone up at night lol.
These video clips and pictures are really old, the videos and pictures of them in the woods are when the kittens were around 4 weeks old, their eyes were still developing and they were really fluffed out. They wobbled when they walked and jumped really funny lol. The clips of them eating kitten food was when they were a few weeks older, I was weening them off the milk so I could get Misty fixed.

Great video. You did the right thing. And they're beautiful cats.
I rescued a calico kitten at my great-great-aunt and uncle's house when I was really little. She lived with us for almost 6 years. When she was 4, we found out she had a bad heart condition. We kept her alive on pills for 2 years until she passed away while I was at school. I love her a lot, even though I haven't seen her in around 3 years.

You definitely did the right thing some people would look at a starving cat and walk away leaving it starve.

You did the right thing by bringing the kittens in. I rescued my wee kitty Angus when she was just 3 weeks old. Her mother was a one-eyed feral that had been living out by the trash bins since she was 8 weeks old and was the wildest kitty in the colony. She had no love for humans (with very good reason) but for some reason she seemed to like my husband and I and when we adopted her baby she suddenly waged a campaign for our affections..3 years on, both kitties are happy and much loved.
