A tour of the brig aboard the USS Nimitz with MAC Adams. On the 2005 deployment, there were a total of 12 detainees in the Nimitz brig. They were detained for three days on average. CARRIER follows a core group of participants aboard the USS Nimitz, from the elite fighter pilots to the youngest sailors and everyone in between, as they navigate personal conflicts around their jobs, families, faith, patriotism, love and the war on terror. • love pbs!

  • Yes, the UCMJ provides that particular punishment. But it's only for three days. It's most likely better than the food on the mess decks.

  • "We are a male only facility".. So where do they lock up female offenders on the boat?

    Please advise... over,

    Confused :-(

  • my dad was CPO, 20 years in the Navy, and i know a bunch of Marines that have got in trouble, and you kinda have to try to end up in the brig, its usually a pretty big violation you have done if you are in the brig

  • @zososldier they are not suppose to make you work your on restriction unless you got emi then its diffrent or else they are breaking the ucmj... learn then type... know your rites as a sailor your not a dog your another human beign

  • HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU BEEN ATTACKED BY INMATES?

  • HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ATTACKED BY INMATES?

  • @VTwinty

You have to do a lot more than piss someone off to get into the brig. Normally it take a major violation of the UCMJ(Uniform Code of Military Justice) then it's up to the Commanding Officer to determine if the offense was bad enough to deserve to be locked up. Most of the time the punishment handed out is being restricted to the ship(or shore base) for 30-45 days and loss of half your pay for a couple of months.

  • In the NAVY, if you get in trouble for whatever you do to make them upset, Will they lock you up in the brig? and for how long? and do they only give you water and bread? That sucks!

I also heard rumors that if you are starting to fight they will beat the crap out of you, shit! Getting your ass kicked must be the worse thing ever on a ship.

  • "choose ur rate choose ur fate"

  • No! in that case they would be brought to Life rafts.

  • Dont disrespect the navy! Unless you've lived the life of the navy than dont talk shit! these people are out there defending our country and people talking shit is NOT cool at all!
