Tight racing lines on the ocean in Sarasota Florida... Miss Geico Racing turbine boat dukes it out with CMS Racing gas engines... a close match, close racing and exciting for the fans.

  • Great racing!! How fast were they going on the backstretch the first 30sec?

  • I'm guessing that they were going around 150 mph on the long back stretch... it looked pretty smooth from shore, but there were some big holes in the water waiting to catch the unwary... I saw some real tank slappers from most boats.

  • I take it CMS did not make that last turn? Did they go over?

  • They straight lined the turn and came around about 10 seconds behind Geico... they caught up to about 4 seconds by lap 6ish, but the motors let go and they retired.

  • Even the big boats were getting caught out by the holes... more than a few tank slappers.

  • @solarcat1 They didn't have 2 boatlengths when they cut over into Bob's line. I have seen other camera angles.

  • that's nothing compared to the black pearl

  • anyone know the name of the first song? thx in advance

  • Umm, can we hear the sound of the boats?

  • My friend works for the team .Geico weighs about 13,500 lbs fully loaded and CMS weighs 10,500 lbs. CMS raced for 8 more laps and couldnt catch GEICO.

  • Looks like it hooked just a little by the big shot of water comingup .IMO?

  • Geico was at last 40yds past the bouy when they turned. They had to turn, they couldn't wait any longer. Scotty saw CMS in his rear camera so he knew where they were. I don't see where Geico did anything wrong and SBI didn't penalize them so no harm no foul.

Back to the race, CMS did a great job catching Geico, 3100hp against 3700 but CMS's tunnel is much wider than Geico's so it packs more air for speed even though it's a bigger heavier boat. Truth be known I bet Geico slowed down for a race!

  • cokeomo Geico had two boatlengths on CMS going into the turn. That's enough to have the right-of-way. Geico was lucky they weren't right beside CMS or there would have been a nasty incident because CMS did not make the turn to port.

  • CMS had to straight line the turn because Gieco cut in their line. So lets think about this. Gas engine vs turbine!!

  • Geico pilots must be more corageous than competitors, so probably they take more risks, they risk there lives , no doubt about that. Sometimes i´m expecting to see the boat turn back around by the air..Great show, great colors!
