Nosferatu the Vampyre (Ger. Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht, Eng. Nosferatu: Phantom of the Night) is a 1979 West German horror film, set primarily in nineteenth-century Wismar, Germany and Transylvania, Romania. The film was conceived as a stylistic remake of the 1922 German Dracula adaptation, Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens. Written and directed by Werner Herzog, Nosferatu the Vampyre stars Klaus Kinski as Count Dracula, Isabelle Adjani as Lucy Harker and Bruno Ganz as Jonathan Harker. The film also features French artist-writer Roland Topor as Renfield.

  • Isabelle is so beautiful.

  • Herzog and Kinski were geniuses. If I were Megan Fox, I would watch filmwork by Isabelle Adjani. Stunning beauty who could have wound up in porn films but held out for being a professional actress.

  • Kinskis added a sexual ambiguity to Nosferatu, humanising him even, and Max Shrecks alien-like version was just as chillling but without the vulnerability that Kinski bought to the role.

    They are equally great.

  • BELA LUGOSI IS THE BEST DRAGUL!!!

  • @LTstudios Isn't it Herzog's voice over?

  • Guter Film.

  • I live in Delft , where the movie is shot, and it is bizar to see the market like this!!!

And to see someone put make up on the face of the vampire!

  • @xavierbaudet it harkens back to the 'silent era' when overacting was necessary due to lack of sound. videoclip may not be the correct term... video is not relevant to this.

  • K.Kinski is a character acter, but he doesnt need any make up..he is ugly naturally...

  • I love how it cuts back and forth from Kinski putting on his make-up, its as if Kinski's voice over isn't him being interviewed but it's his him thinking in his head.

  • @xavierbaudet It's a piece of camp with big production values. No matter what you make of the film, its Herzog's vision. Klaus Kinski is a brilliant character actor.

  • I like the film, in fact actually I think its great. But it appears to me the actors were instructed to deliberately overact or otherwise look ridiculous. The overall effect is so weird it becomes great , like Ed Wood. The music and the images really make this film. It's basically an extended videoclip.
