Torbay Tangmere

BR(S) Battle of Britain class pacific no.34067 Tangmere is seen on the first Torbay Express of the 2008 season. The train is seen at the foot crossing near Cockwood and on the return at Newton Abbot station. I have also included some of the service trains seen on the day including a claggy pair of nodding donkeys (class 142) as well as a MML liveried, and Val powered, HST along with SWT 159's and Voyagers. There is also a quick visit to stoneycombe to see a pair of FGW HST's on Dainton.

That's why I like this location, You can quite safely get really close - although it's not as close as it looks actually. Theres also a good clear view in both directions which is a novelty in itself these days.

The down train was caught at the public crossing near Cockwood Harbour. On the return trip I caught it in the carpark at Newton Abbot Station (right at the far end).

Nice vid - I liked the little steam railmotor at the first location... well, it had the right sort of clag for steam :)

true, you don't always get a long ahead view when waiting, so i genrally miss one.

It's on the road from Dawlish Warren to Starcross, there's a layby near the Public crossing. There are other view points nearby but the road through the village is fairly narrow and NR have put up a lot a Security fencing which has spoilt the view at many spots. You can see the spot on Google Earth a Lat 50.614506 Lon -3.446017

Like the first spot there - the scene of Tangemere looks right out of the past. Hoping to see / travel on those HSTs or if not those the Pendolino's in a few weeks!
