@scoutie111 Lizzy - Have you ever visited Stickam? I'm in there from time to time, and I'd enjoy speaking with you.

@scoutie111 By the way, I am atheist but PROFOUNDLY agnostic. But my agnosticism is not typical (i.e., Does god exist? I don't know.) Instead, I question the very assumptions that are embedded in the question! But I am atheist because if you were to ask me the question "Does god exist"-I will tell you 'probably not'--that I do not think god "EXISTS"--i.e., no THING. Now-I will give a big YES to this experience in wonder, amazement, and awe (which I think is SIMILAR to your thank you ;-)

@MizzDizzyLizzy79 I like the way you think ;-) Honestly, I don't know how to keep an open mind to ALL the possibilities-they are endless! And how are we to ever know? On the topic of location in the brain for 'spiritual experience'-we could ask ourselves, "Why do birds have beaks? Why does a bat perceive the way it does?" I don't think there is a force with attributes in mind - i'll give this bird a beak, a bat sonar, or humans spiritual experience (whatever that 'is' - such variation!)

@MizzDizzyLizzy79 Well, let's suppose we say that God created everything. We run into a problem when we ask, Then who created God? WHO created the creator? Our minds go spinning unless we plop down a 'definitional truth' like - "God is the first cause." Imagining a first cause is comfortable; it makes the big picture like OUR little picture, e.g., "That man created a house." Question: Try imagining outside of space time. Is outside of space time something? or nothing?
-
@MizzDizzyLizzy79 Lizzy - I think the idea of an object/designer (a "creator object") who 'designed' the universe is anthropomorphic, overly-simplistic, and quite Newtonian (billiard-ball mechanics). It is entirely possible that there may be no "true" beginnings or endings-only the PERCEPTION of such. When we ask the question "Does god exist?" - the ANSWER may be - "Your QUESTION is skewed to your human experience in space-time." How does an object "exist" outside of space-time?

atheism. whats so great about it? i was atheist all my life. its freaking normal. why everybody gets so exscitet about atheism in the usa. its like they pretend its something new!.-.-
atheism should be normality . not a spiritual experience. spirituality is something different then just the " non believing in all gods" statement

You gotta go with whatever makes you a more empathetic, accepting person. Atheism does that for me. :)

Well, it has for me, too. There is no supernatural object to rely upon to "save" us. It is up to us--OUR responsibility--to create a state of peace in our personal world and the world around us.
