"Those who make peaceful protest impossible, make violent protest inevitable" - John F. Kennedy
Revolution
By John Lennon & Paul McCartney
You say you want a revolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
You tell me that it's evolution
Well you know
We all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don't you know you can count me out
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright
You say you got a real solution
Well you know
We'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But if you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright,
You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright
Alright, alright

"We are with you in spirit. In this beautiful country where democracy is the very foundation of its constitution, it is sad that we have to still fight for equal rights and equal pay for the citizens. Boycott it must be, if it is the only way to bring justice and restore the dignity of the constitution for the sake of all citizens of the US and their children.Peace and love," John & Yoko.December, 1980. "Not a communist?" Sure! But "not a communist" does not equal "a closet Republican"

Thanks to whoever made this video! Excellent. Note, there are rumors that John Lennon was a republican/Reagan supporter. I have a feeling that's one of many statements taken out of context. There's also a video of him putting down socialism in Europe, but it also seems anecdotal considering his overall message in his music and in life. He was definitely concerned for others and 'liberal'. It makes sense to be 'selfish' -- express yourself -- in 'art', but not in setting up laws of a society.

@munderlarkst - Re: That Toronto Sun story in "The Nation:" "This seems unlikely," contributor Jon Wiener wrote. "First of all, who is Fred Seaman? He'd been a personal assistant to John and Yoko at the Dakota in the late seventies, but he's also a convicted criminal. He was found guilty of stealing John Lennon's personal belongings, including his diaries, after Lennon had been killed. He was sentenced to five years probation. You might say that weakens his credibility."
