@JomoDaMusicMan Margeret Avery played Shug in The Color Purple and did indeed do a fantastic job. Phyillis just had the raw vocal talent and appeal to have also been considered for the part.

Phyllis was great doing Pearl Baileys number. The Tap Dancers were awesome and as far as she doing Shug Avery in color Purple. the actress that did the performace as Shug could not be topped because she did an extreme performce in the show
