Ray has been training all his life to become a succesful kickboxer, in which even in the world of K1 his record is not all (that) hot. Could a Ray Sefo in his prime be trained to become another David Tua?? Maybe, or maybe he would have failed or at least had become a B-level boxer, sticking to ones comfort zone, and fear of the unknown is what drove Ray Sefo out of Pro heavyweight boxing. Ray Sefo weighs 240 something pounds, that is big enough.
@teanshin If Ray was a great boxer or had the potential to be a great Main Events wouldn't have let him go so early. As soon as they saw him bombed out by a fighter not even ranked in the sports top 100 HWs they couldn't tear up his contract fast enough.
@longfinnedeelcatcher ok i agree with you there maybe he wasnt great but very good 5-1 as a pro aint that bad,you have to admit, especialy when your trained kickboxer and muay tai fighter not focused on boxing only.Anyway to be honest Ray is a great fighet overall and there is no question about it,fully deserved his place in Hall of Fame.good day!
@teanshin Ray was never a great boxer...great boxers define a career inside a boxing ring. Sefo got found out early...was released by Main Events and went running back to K1. A much higher caliber of athlete in professional boxing...wannabes and imposters get found out...all related to the much bigger money on offer in HW boxing. If Sefo was a great boxer he would have bit down and chased the big money of HW boxing..,but he didn't have the size or skills to exist in the HW scene.
@longfinnedeelcatcher i never said early i've said prime so my friend what about Tyson vs Buster Douglas, and on preparation to this fight he got KOd by his sparing partners(twice)Did this answer your doubts?.Im big fan of Mike and Ray Sefo too.I'd recommend for you to search some documentries of early and late Mikes career only if your interested in Tysons life,i have downloaded about 11h of footage in total,Good day!
Ray is a great boxer even Tyson got ko'd in his prime by second league opponent. That proves that anyone may have bad day and dont underestimate any HW pro boxers.BTW i hate those videos where Ray gets ko'd
i remember seeing this fight live on tv. did'nt realize at the time sefo was an "MMA" fighter. i guess now it adds up given the result. btw chester huges was not even a top 100 boxer at the time or ever. pretty much fell off the face of the earth after this win

@teanshin Tyson never got KOed in his early career and definitely not by a fighter ranked outside the top 100.
