This is not a completion of the game (I never did play it through), but includes some spoilers. The idea is to collect evidence in the padded envelopes. Some of the evidence is marked with a letter E, but some are not.

I made several cuts to reduce repetition in the video. This is perhaps the first adventure game I played and it was released only a year before Lucas Arts "Maniac Mansion" and two years after Sierra's first "King's Quest". Selecting items etc. in the menu is very cumbersome and in addition there's a unnecessary effect which makes the cursor bounce back from the edges of the icon box.

  • The profressor mention that Angus McFungus had a terrible memory for numbers. So the code for the safe was his birthdate. It's mentioned on a silvertray in the kitchen. 21 Mars 19. The code is therefor 21031919. :-)

    Great game.

  • I just checked a walktrough in GameFAQs. The code wasn't a four digit combination as I remembered. It's 210319, assuming we can trust the walktrough.

  • ...and thanks for correcting the location for the code.

  • Loved this game and still do. I got it free on a cover tape from the games magazine zzap64. I got quite far in this game back in the day it was very atmospeheric. I now haveit on emulator using ccs64, but i think the game crack i have is a bit dodgy.

  • There are several versions of the game available for download including the original tape version (you can find it in tapes.c64)

  • where can i play this?

  • Download a c64 emulator such as winvice (free). Then download the game file and open it with the emulator. I have put retro gaming related links in my channel profile.

  • I love the internet

Thanks for posting - I had thought I'd never see this game again.

  • There is a free Nintendo DS remake of this game. Do a search for "detective ds" headsoft

  • Imagine that in 3d...

  • @Targen81 - I've talked to the game's creator, Sam Manthorpe, and he said it was a bug in the game - the piano's supposed to be upstairs before the murder. The same goes with the "E" letter, which is included in only 6 out of 10 evidence objects and should be on every one of them.

  • this game scared this shite out of me when i was young - evil music - got it off a zzapp 64 megatape :) - great days

  • They should re-release this on the Wii (both enhanced and origional versions), just like they did with "impossible mission"

  • i mean....

I was a Man Who Waited 16 years for clue and to finish this game but not from this link. This is not a completion of the game....When i realized who is mourdered i tell myself...

    ... DINGLE !!! You fucking bastard !!!!!!!! :))))))))))))))))) it WAS you :)

  • Has someone figured out where the piano come from? ;)
