It's not the Fagin voice as much as the conversation he invokes in us/between us. When it comes to SD, forget voices!

Same thing with Peter Gabriel. Big fan of him, but can't listen to his voice anymore after around 1988.
Singers lose their high range as they get older, and the overall quality of their tone diminishes.
Not true in all cases though. A healthy lifestyle and with careful care of their "instrument" can keep it in good shape.
