Former Israeli commando and 6th Degree Blackbelt in Gadi Kenpo-Jitsu, Itay Gil demonstrates an introduction to grappling and Free Fight (European MMA) for his students in Israel. This series is in Hebrew, and has never before been released.

While he keeps a low profile, Itay is considered by many to be among the very best practitioners of Israeli self defense, and was recently featured on Human Weapon. Itay trains special forces in both the IDF and police, and gives seminars around the world.

Most people do not know that Itay is also an accomplished mixed martial artist, who started studying Muay Thai at the age of 6, followed by years of Judo, Sambo, Pancrase, Krav Maga and Gadi Kenpo-Jitsu. Itay was the 5-time Bushido champion in Israel, holding an undefeated record in full-contact MMA. He retired due to a severe back injury incurred during a military operation, and has regained most of his mobility despite the prognosis of the surgeons. Itay is especially known for his devastating lowkicks, which are deceptively powerful despite his non nonchalant fighting style. He has trained with some of the world's top fighters including the Golden Glory team in Holland.

Itay served in Israel's elite paratroops unit after which he was recruited by Israel's premier commando and special missions unit, the Yamam. His career in the Yamam was highly active, and eventually led to his new career in training for Israel's special police units.

Itay runs a civilian MMA gym in Jerusalem and PROTECT, a security consulting & training firm for police and military teams throughout the world. Protect trains the Israeli secret service and special forces.

  • Judo too! What dosent Itay do???

  • Itay originally studied Judo Newaza. I think it's safe to say that it's the platform for all of his grappling techniques.

  • Really!?! I was in Judo 3 years and now im join my boyfriend in Krav Maga!!! Im just like the Itay Gil! lol

  • Just do another 35 years or so of your studies, add some Muay Thai, Kyukoshin, Sambo, and about a decade of army service and you will be!

  • If you want to watch the entire video, look it up on Google Video. I posted it in 2 parts there due to size restrictions on Youtube.

  • Likewise. Too bad he's so low key. Truly one of the best I've ever come across anywhere. I'll try to post the rest of this Basics serious when I find the time. There are many more.

    Did you train with Itay?

  • Do you guys think Shotokan is okay?? Seriously, i took an MMA class before i took this Shotokan class, and after only 1 class i felt like i was wasting my time, is there real combat benefits??? or should i just stick to MMA

  • Ya lol, sounds about right as far as contiue studies for 35 years, but probly just I will study Krav Maga and still Jujutsu, also I really want learn WingChun and AikiJujutsu. Is so good for defence =D

  • That's using your head. His entire body is one weapon.

  • Itay is one of the best. Highly effective, modern, yet he still holds to tradition. Enjoy everything he does.
