It's been two years since our last video of our apartment. The rent has gone up (now $225/month) and we've survived a small fire and some mild redecorating.

  • Oh my God!

Do you guys actually pay RS. 8700 for that apartment? I'm Indian, and I lived in a house literally twice as large as that, with marble floors, deep inside the city, and paid RS 6500. This is so cruel!

Since you guys are Americans (or Canadian), I think the owner raised the rent to high levels. I have seen and heard of many incidents like yours; incidents where foreigners are charged much -- much more than the original cost. In my opinion, it's Indian racism as usual.

  • A typical 2 bedroom apartment in Anna Nagar if its furnished would cost you a minimum of rupees 8000 to 15,000 rupees depending on the size of the apartment. There are many other places in Chennai were you can find apartments for much lesser rent, apartments in places like, Anna Nagar, Besant Nagar, Adayar, Nungambakam would cost you more than the apartments in other parts of Chennai.

  • Hello larbacmc

    Hello larbacmc

I would be very much glad to help you in this regard, as of now things are quite different here, rents have fallen drastically in many places including the place in which I live owing to the recession. If you have any plans to stay for an extended period of time the rents could be negotiated to make it even more affordable, most of the landlords would demand an advance money of 10 months rent which would be returned to you while you checkout.
