"Johnny Mathis Live" is truly a favorite album of many Mathis fans. Any fan who has gone to a live Mathis concert can understand when I state that Johnny Mathis sounds better live than on any of his recordings - the arrangements at a live concert are tremendous and support his voice to maximum effect. My personal favorite on this CD is "99 Miles from L.A.". This version moves a lot of people to tears every time they hear it. Johnny infuses the song with emotion and longing.
This Song was originaly written and performed by Albert Hammond and was also covered by Art Garfunkel and Julio Iglesias.

Julio Inglesias does this song pretty and its the only song of his I have heard I understand.

If the Concert referred to in the earlier comment was in Cleveland in April 1, this yr...I had the great fortune to attend. If i recall tickets came out Sept 10th.2010. It was a beautiful performance, and I am 61, fell in love with him at age 12, and I enjoy him more now than ever. He is genuine, gracious, and so humble. His voice reflect not age but greater depth, emotion, and the pure joy of his singing. I hope you have a chance to see him. I was truly blessed. God bless.

I have loved Johnny Mathis for decades. Most recently, my husband and I tried to get tickets for an April concert of his. They sold out in minutes. Oh well, hopefully, there will be another time!
