I'll attempt to post that kata next week privately on JSOD, and maybe I'll try the kumitachi version so that I can show the bunkai more clearly. It is a pretty interesting move.
The mechanics of the draw I'm describing are somewhat similar to a kumitachi I've seen performed by Yagyu Shinkage Ryu (watch?v=eq5CHnm98hM see at the 2:37 point)

Actually, it turns out I performed the wrong noto for that kata (I accidently "merged" components of both noto). The hand change in the correct version of the noto in our kata kami nari (not in this video), is used after you have spared the life of an adversary. This is a deceptive move to test if they will attempt to attack. If they perform nukitsuke, then you redraw with a reverse grip up to hasso kamae, the motion of the sword deflects their attack upward, then you follow up with kesagiri.

The changing of the noto grip comment by Jeeperrandy was actually an interesting spot. Kudos, Jeep! If you do not mind, is there any chance you can explain the situation of it. I usually see a hand change while the sword is resting firmly on a body part, such as a knee. Resting it on the top of the saya seems unsecure, maybe this is an evasion of some kind? Thank you :)

Awesome Steve! Thanks for sharing some IYR kata. I was always curious what they looked like. I can see some very cool bunkai in this set. ^-^

Thanks Kris. I really love the bunkai of kiri kaze ("cutting wind"). All the IYR kata can also be run as kumitachi, and seeing that particular kata run as kumitachi is pretty brutal. After deflecting the initial attack, you ride in with the edge across the uchidachi's neck, as you step around you pull the edge down across their chest and bicep, then pulling back up across their rear shoulder and traps, and finishing with kesagiri. The edge does a lot of work in this kata. Very cool but brutal.
