@oluwalogbon58 No disrespect but I didn't c what u saw. It was new to them, so it's not just basic stuff. The wraps look elaborate & like there is a trick if u never saw it in the process of being done, only the end result. They've never even felt the fabric b4. I've seen the attitude you've mentioned, from people on the outside of something looking in lol and this was so not it. We don't traditionally do the same thing as u or use the same material when we wrap our hair where I'm from either.

It must be a very firm/hard fabric to be able to bend and be tugged without tear, it looked lovely on her. Thanks so much for the upload!
this is really basic stuff!! its amazing just how foreigners wonder at our culture and traditions expecting us to be simple and unsophisticated and stuck in some time warp in some fantasy about how africans are according to national geographic...

Usually the material is cotton sometimes it can be silk. The reason it cracks like this and it is harder is because it is put in a mixture of starch and water and when it dries it becomes crispy to allow easy shaping. If you give it a couple of washes you'll notice it becomes like your regular cotton fabric.
