  • You need a proper offroader for this, freelander is just a softroad dollybus.

  • @marshalllucky No it's not. It's a decent off-roader. Not Defender of D3, but it's a Land Rover. Especially compared to compact "SUVs".

  • @crazywebru man if you compare to other compact suv, is like comparing the freelander to air............ freelander is compact all wheel drive family wagon and that s it, ok it can go further then a normal car..... but not that further, proper off road vehicle needs ground clearance, wheel travel, LOW GEAR, lockers........ the terrain response is magnific.... but not enough to overcome other hardware issues and i say this having the freelander as a must buy family car i like it

  • @lowlifehippie It's a rocket when Terrain Response is set to "Sand" on a dry summer highway. Haldex is the answer, it's a FWD vehicle under normal conditions, BUT with LR brains. Poor torque (320nm) is the worst part of the gasoline modified Volvo i6 installed in LR2 (Freelander 2 i6), European diesel versions have lower HP, but better torque. Clearance/geometry is OK, btw. Low gears is software in TR like in all new LR vehicles, quite efficient.

  • @crazywebru these car is getting stuck, my suzki jeep could be use to pull the dollybus out of this small snow mound ;-)

  • @marshalllucky The driver was playing with the SUV and braking prematurely most of the time thus losing momentum. This video is more about Haldex. LR2 drives anywhere along with full-time 4WDs, clearance permitting, unlike other SUVs in this class.

  • freelander will surprise most folk how capable it is, as you say put a clueless person in a tomcat or bowler and they could easily get it stuck. put a capable person in a bog standard landie and they could take it almost anywhere. in the right hands freelanders can out perform defenders in some cases

  • @crazywebru

Go for the Diesel engine, maybe only 160 Bhp (150 if you have particle filter), but you'll get 420 nm torque, and that's what counts for this type of car

  • @crazywebru i dont understand why land rover guys had no balls to do a more dedicated model of the freelander with a low gear and a 5 inch lift supension and a rear locker... for those who want a off road vehicle, as the discovery is to expensive and TO BIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • A vehicle is only as good as the person driving it. It makes no difference how much technology is put into a car if the guy behind the wheel doesn't know how to use it .Think about it, how good are formula 1 cars. How good would it be in you'r hands?? Hmm.............
