It's only now that I have been trying for a while to play this Fantastic tune on my chromatic Harmonica that I found this video, how B-E-A-U-T-F-U-L is this..... Absolutely Breathtaking and Mesmerizing.... I wish I was there with You at the time.....
Before I ever heard this version of "Midnight on the Water", the only other version I'd ever heard was by the great Mark O'Conner, who recorded a fabulous version of this song, on his second album when he was ONLY 14 years old. I still have the L.P.,early 1970's, it was. Mark recorded it as a tribute to his mentor, that legendary Texas fiddler, Benny Thomassen. I would personally rate this version, and Mark O'conner's version, on an equal footing - simply superb, and so sweet to the ear ...
Now, THIS is a VERY FINE VERSION of this fabulous old famous tune. These guys are old-timers, and are thus well-practised. Therefore, they have the RIGHT sense of RHYTHM - not too fast, not too slow - which properly befits this beautiful waltz tune. It's MADE for the fiddle; and these 2 gentlemen playing twin fiddles do the tune delightful justice. Well done, fellas !!
My favorite song in the world. This is one of the best versions I've ever heard. Wonder if I can book these people for a shindig?!
