A Phase 5 alert is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short.

The United States Government has declared a public health emergency in the United States. CDCs response goals are to reduce transmission and illness severity, and provide information to help health care providers, public health officials and the public address the challenges posed by this emergency. CDC is issuing and updating interim guidance daily in response to the rapidly evolving situation. CDCs Division of the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) continues to send antiviral drugs, personal protective equipment, and respiratory protection devices to all 50 states and U.S. territories to help them respond to the outbreak. The swine influenza A (H1N1) virus is susceptible to the prescription antiviral drugs oseltamivir and zanamivir. In addition, the Federal Government and manufacturers have begun the process of developing a vaccine against this new virus.

I think ust the opposite. I think it's being over-hyped to institute emergency powers and deal the final blow to freedom and civil liberties in the free world.

I mean common people this is just a flu, i get one almost every year. There is only 1 death so far. No time to panic. The real threat is to our freedom.

People calm down. Do more than listen to your favorite news channel. Research the swine flu. Research the vaccine. I'd rather get the H1N1 flu than the vaccine personally.

Haven't you noticed that each time the people of the US have something bad that's happening like this war brakes out, hidden bills get passed, and worse? 1000 people have died from this flu so far, but have you checked out how many have died from yearly flu?

I used to go to a hispanic pentecostal church...I was given a vision...I warned the pastor to tell his people that if any of them ever really wanted to go back to their families in mexico that they needed to leave right away...because soon they wouldn't be able to go home. Most were illegally here. I was shown that they would ultimately have to sneak back over the border. that was in 2005.
