Using Castle Game Engine (http://castle-engine.sourceforge.net/ ) to render simple flames. Flame consists of 3 MovieTexture VRML nodes, loaded from images sequence. Movie is itself recorded from view3dscene, using it's "Screenshot to video" option.

  • Particle effects, in a VRML? HOW!?

I didn't thought it was possible!

excellent is all i have to say...

  • In this movie the particles were modeled and rendered in Blender, so the real "particle engine" used was the one from Blender. What my engine does here is display 3 animated textures with alpha channel (MovieTexture in VRML), generated from Blender.

Although real creation of particle engines in VRML/X3D is also possible (see X3D specification, "Particle Engine" component), but it's not yet implemented in my engine.

  • I had played a bit around with blender and it's particle engine, but I didn't managed to do anything interesting with it besides fur.
