I was lucky enough to see Maynard 3 times inLondon. And hear this arrangment by Reggie from a medium rated standard into a mint tune... Reggie hung around chatting to everyone after. What a dude.
So that really didn't sound like the Garota de Ipanema at all. . . but it sounded good. Girl from Ipanema was definitely the stereotypical elevator music from every movie ever made.

aw... maybe it sounded good to those who never knew "garota de Ipanema."
The original intent is to be soft, gentle, full of soul, and most of all, affectional...
Oh well. It still sounds very(or too) jazzy and energetic which many people like!

I like the tune, but I personally don't think it's an accurate portrayal of "The Girl from Ipanema" until it gets to the bridge.
I MISS MAYNARD :-(

I know that solo saxophonist, Doug Stone.
He works at the jazz camp I go to each year.
He's simply amazing, as you can determine yourself.
