@ianupton Thats impressive dude, your a piece of history. The Katana bikes were not too far off the design concept. Its quite mad that the "superbike" of the movie had 150bhp... Modern road bikes have 180 + and weigh a lot less. As for the track bikes........240+ bhp and weigh less again. Apart from the power increase, modern bikes would still anhilate the older bikes in agility. But I suggest, the yesteryear riders would be better!!

Time for a re-make, Jorge look out ;-)

this is a true cult classic for those of us who miss the sound of a 500cc 2 stroke screaming! the alternate ending sucks because it doesn't follow through on the footage of him over-revving the engine. also, it removes the kick at the end like in dirty mary, crazy larry or phantasm. but, i still enjoy it anyway. you might want to check another movie called sidecar racers.

I saw this in 81. I now have it on DVD - which is weird because there are so many things I hate about this film. Firstly - it's totally anti-biking with the message throughout being 'don't ride bikes or you'll die' (as the hero does in the end) and secondly - it's SO badly made with crap direction and editing. The best things about it are 1. the bike - beautiful. 2. Cider - what a hero - intelligent AND witty! LOL 3. Beau Bridges because he CAN act and Christina Raines (for obvious reasons)

i can sum it all up "2 stroke 70's 80's pure simple bikes with big balls riders"

A friend of mine worked on the film at Donington as one of the riders, he said all of the bikes were old worn out scrappers, he even got his face in the final film, a pit lane shot twice first going one way then the other but abit of a continuity cockup

Christ on a bike !! How shit was this movie !! I remember laughing with my mates in utter amazement at the "Silver Dream Machine" , what a joke !!
Why can film companies just not make convincing bike / car movies ??!!

The crash at 6.01,that looked like a dummy crashing to the ground.
i was working for hammer films in 1979 when i was asked by david regis to produce a mock up of an advanced racing motorcycle for a forthcoming feature film. i was invited over to japan and spent some time with suzuki's chief designer kim kashagashi. (suzuki, who part sponsored the film). he showed me designs for both the katana and the gamma which were just in the design stage at the time. i stayed in a paper house and ate raw fish and everything. when i came back i designed the bike you see now
