The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium welcomed a baby silvered leaf monkey, also known as silvery langur, in the morning hours of July 6, 2009. The last langur born at the Columbus Zoo was born on August 8, 2008. Langurs are born with orange fur and white colored skin on their hands, feet and face. The skin changes color to black within days of birth. The orange fur will change to the adult color in 3-5 months. Langur diets are similar to that of the colobus monkey and, like colobus, their stomachs have more than one chamber. The langurs can be seen at their exhibit located in the Zoos Asia Quest region.
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium is open 363 days a year 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. after Labor Day. General admission is $12 for adults, $7 for children ages 2 to 9 and seniors 60+. Children under 2 and Columbus Zoo members are free. The Zoo was named the #1 Zoo in America by USA Travel Guide and is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA.) I've been doing research on these monkeys all year. The one who comes up and touches his face near the end is one-year-old half brother Ollie...so cute!!! Love the little guy!

Saw it on the ninth when it was only three days old. It was so neat to see. One of the other langurs was trying to see it or do something, it was biting the mom. Kinda funny really.
