@florgano I count myself lucky to have heard so often during that period. Of all the operas she sang her Elvira is my personal favourite.

One of my mum's friends went to that, and the premiere of Lucia at Covent Garden in 1959........You have no idea how jealous I am!!!!

Thank you Homoclassicus, once again, for another fantastic example of JS in her glorious youth. Unspeakably beautiful, as always - but also exciting dramatically. The abandon and fearlessness in her singing matches the wildness of Elvira's fear/panic/temporary insanity.
