Jenova was actually sephiroth's mom but his dad infected her with some alien DNA while she was still pregnant with sephi as an experiment and then they started to use the DNA of is mom and put it into soldiers to make them strong so that they could become the ultimate weapon thats y the guys in FFVII( Advent Children) kept calling her mother D:

Lucrecia is Sephiroths mother...if you paid attention to Dirge of cerberus which i haven't even played and know everything about it, you would know that Lucrecia was injected with jenova cells, and Hojo basically Raped Lucrecia, yes sephiroth looks like jenova, but thats because he was born with her cells in him, its basic genetics.

@fearofhorror12 Be that as it may, you DreamfantasycookieZ is actually correct. If Sephiroth was born with Jenova's cells, Jenova is his mother, not Lucrecia. Lucrecia was merely a surrogate mother, and, as we know (from basic genetics) surrogate mothers provide no genetic information to the baby, they are merely containers until the child comes to term.

@fearofhorror12 Jenova is not sephiroths mother.... Lucrecia is. This is explained at the end just before you fight Hojo in the original FF7 game. Hojo is the father. Jenova has just had her cells put in whilst the baby was growing within lucrecia. Its the same procedure as the other SOLDIER members only difference is sephiroth got it whilst he was unborn and the SOLDIER members got it as adults and less amount. Hope this clears it up!

Please ignore the confusing contradictory last part. I accidentally omitted a sentance. What I meant to say was, When the Shinra found a comatose Jenova, professor Gast confused her with a Cetra, since the Shinra though Jenova was a Cetra, the books in the Shinra mansion in Nibelheim reflect that, Sephiroth gets all his information from those books. Thats why Sephiroth calls her a Cetra.

Lucrecia is Sephiroth's mother, Hojo injected Jenova's cells into the fetus. Sephiroth was told Jenova was his mother, and she died giving birth to him. He was never told of his father. When Sephiroth finds out Jenova is some weird alien thing, he begins to think he was created from Jenova entirely and is not human at all, that is why he calls her mother. Jenova is not a Cetra, she is an alien who attempted to destroy the planet 2000 years before FF7 starts. Thats why Sephiroth calls her a Cetra

Jenova's genes dominated lucretia and hojo's genes, that is why seph calls her mother. She is why he is what he is, not lucretia or hojo for that matter.

@fearofhorror12 Sephiroth was Hojo and Lucrecia's son. Hojo injected the fetus (which was completely human before the injection) with Jenova cells, and they altered him while he developed.

@robertmoneymaker999 no, he isn't correct Lucrecia is the real mother of sephiroth. Thats what the game said! If you go in some place in the worldwhere is a lake with a waterfall(you need to use the submarine to reach that place), lucrecia will appear in spirit and will start talk with vicent and reveal Sephiroth is her son and ask him(to vicent) to kill him, before he destroy the world! Next play the full game story to now that. before you say stupid things.
