Thomas, how much I wish you could read my message. Thank you so much for your video. I used to hate myself for being gay, tried to take my own life when I was a teen. Now I am completely content and accept myself. It does get better. A hell of a lot better. You're an inspiration - smart, sweet, and incredibly handsome. You're a beautiful guy.

that was GREAT!

@dsindc I hear ya. I still work frequently on film & TV sets in L.A. so I've had my share of celebrity behavior in person, some much friendlier than others, LOL.

@SWLinPHX That's an excellent point and I agree. Hard to believe but the gay ghetto in D.C. is about 6 blocks from the White House, and there is (let's just say) a bit of attitude here too. Bobby Gant (queer as folk), went to law school here also - and in fact practiced law for a few years. For what it's worth, he evidently was an amazingly down to earth guy, and now is something of a community activist (gay elder care). So who knows. We'll hope for the best. Cheers.

@dsindc Well let's be fair to Mr. Roberts. That pick-up line can be just a joke and without context you can't draw conclusions from it. Also, celebrities or anyone with a public profile have basically three personas: the one they project on camera or publicly in broadcasts or media, the one they have personally with family & friends, and then the one with the public who can be intrusive in everyday lives where they are not as careful or tolerant knowing they are not on camera.

@SWLinPHX OK. I hate to say it, but on the other hand...Thomas Roberts.. He has lived in the ' Tidewater " area about 3 hrs from here (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, etc.), and has lived in D.C. also. He had a reputation for being just a bit of a jerk - very full of himself. I know someone who claims at least, that Roberts came up to him in a bar and askd "so are you gonna buy me a drink?" But who knows. Then again, if you looked like that, it would be tough not to be a bit arrogant.
-
@dsindc Oh yes, I know he is. I'm not berating him just giving an example of news anchors that don't try to hide or deny they're gay, but don't openly discuss or admit to it either.
-
@SWLinPHX There are strong rumors here in Washington that he is coming out in the next few months. I work next to CNN in a government office and wish I could say I've seen him when he has made trips to the CNN D.C.'s studios, but I've asked the people in the tiny little CNN deli. They all said he was very down to earth - very nice guy. He'll come out... give him some time.

@Michaelmario2 Maybe for the same reason Anderson Cooper is gay, everyone knows it, and he KNOWS that everyone does, yet still doesn't directly acknowledge it.

You are our HERO! Sharing your story is so helpful to other gay people. Thank you for being you and being out with such passion.

Thomas, Thanks for speaking out.. We need to get role models to go into the schools and give any child who is bullied, gay or straght, role models to live up to.
How do you fight bullying? Go into the schools.
