Bangladesh 2011 - Thank You

Thanks to my family and friends for supporting me on this trip.

Madaripur, Bangladesh.

This is a highlight from Days 1 & 2 (of 9). Most of the kids have cleft lip and cleft palette because of environmental and genetic issues.

Other than aesthetic disabilities (such as finding a spouse), kids are unable to eat solid foods because it will enter and infect the ear canals, also newborns are unable to feed on breast milk because of cleft lip, and end up being severely undernourished ultimately leading to death.

This trip was a "Free cleft clip/palette surgery" event for the city of Madaripur by a small team of US/Kenyan surgeons. 106 surgeries were completed in 9 days including many severe tumor removals.
