Michael Phelps Returns to Competition

Michael Phelps is swimming in his first meet since winning a record eight gold medals at last year's Beijing Olympics. It's his first competition since a published photo of him inhaling from a marijuana pipe led to a three month suspension. (May 14)

it really sucks that he was at a friends party, and one of his "friends" TOTALLY sold him out to a British tabloid for a few Bucks. What an ass! I would love to be rich, but i would HATE to be famous... We have no sense of etiquette when it comes to fame.

i really hope this next generation grows out of this ugly phase of needing to live vicariously through tabloid BS. it's really an embarrassing human trait. i judge anyone i see reading smut like that... i can't help it.

Because he's an ATHLETE, and yes, weed IS a big deal when you're a world class athlete, and when you have millions of people looking up to you. So good for him for getting up the courage to publicly recognize his mistake in a completely mature manner and apologize for it.

The over hype of this ridiculous story probably motivated a huge amount of young people to try marijuana and find out what they were missing. Good! One step closer to legalization.

He hit a bong at a party and everyone freaks but no one brings up the fact that he was charged with DUI years before.
