  • Australian guys are sexy.

  • Having past experience living in America and England, I can say that I thought the education in the USA had a more rapid speed that England, but both were fine

  • @hayleyoswald226 I wouldn't worry to much about unscientific street polls that get posted on Youtube. I feel sorry for anyone who gets their perceptions by Youtube. Even on this page, several Australians have defended the US. It's no doubt a mixed bag, but anti-Americanism is popular right now. It's an easy rhetorical position to take, particularly by those who love to criticize us no matter what we do. I'm sure you will be fine. They are friendlier than the British, who are divided about 50/50,

  • @Gabbo2010 With Great Britain, a lot of liberals live in Scotland. Most political authorities believe that if Scotland leaves the UK (they vote in 2014) the conservative party will win out in England. As for Australians, I am sure there is mixed sentiment. The US generally likes Australia, we have no reason not to. We are an easy target because we are on the news a lot because of the Gulf War. Actions against Libya were taken by NATO, with France leading the way, but people still criticize us.

  • @trouzerpants Don't take my word for it! Look up "world education rankings and you will see the OECD's report for yourself. I am daunted by Joe Klein's comment because it's entirely wrong. If he wants to make those statements, he shouldn't falsely credit them to the OECD since the OECD ranks the US very high.

  • @trouzerpants China? Is he kidding? China has so many people they limit how many children couples can have (two). Infanticide is still being practiced. The vast majority of Chinese are poorly educated. Ironically, it's American educators that are always saying we rank low, usually because they want more money, even though we (the government) spends more on tertiary than other countries. Of the top 400 universities, the US trumps other nations with rankings, even dominating the top ten.

  • @artystaartysta The world generally refers to people in the US as Americans. Canadians are simply called Canadians, and if the continent in total is being discussed, it's referred to as North America. When a Canadian travels, they identify as Canadians. When people use the term "Americans" they always mean the US. You're trying to be pedantic against common world terminology.

  • @trouzerpants This quote by Joel Klien is not only uninformed, it's complete fiction. The US outscores Great Britain both for 15 yr aptitude, and percentage of Americans with advanced education (college, grad school). Perhaps the Governor was shooting for more educational money, and the US ranks the top in that. If you google the OECD findings, you'll see he's absolutely incorrect. Perhaps he thought no one would check.

  • @Gabbo2010 My response to you was because you were calling an American a cunt, which is really just a lowbrow ad hominem and you used the same tactic for me. I am no idiot, there are various studies on education, and some have ranked the US higher in both categories not just one. It's perfectly normal to defend one's country when erroneous stereotypes are being used. Further, the teen study was done by the French, not the UN.
