Pack flares, not something that takes a lot of time and requires uninjured, dry, steady hands. I really don't get why so many "survival advisors" have people hauling around flints or pulling their flash lights apart and rubbing sticks together. If you're going to pack something for that survival situation you need a fire FAST.
Total agree, carry items that can catch a fire fast! I carry a powerful lighter and I carried road flares when I was 13 and still do depending on what I am doing. Learning other ways in starting a fire comes in handy in an emergency also.
Thanks, I find different types of tenders work well, for example a quick flame I use cattial fluff, and a slow smouldering burn I use cedar bark. All have good uses.
