Fix it tickets have a small administrative fee. It varies from court to court, but it is usually about $25 in LA county.

@lovelessissimo There is a CHP NON administrative fix it ticket that can be issued it give you beterrn 45 and 60 days to correct with no fee charged ...However if you fail to fix it in that time period it gets sent to the courts and then you will incur a fine.... The caveat not all CHP officers know how to issue then non admin tickets.

$700?? if some dumb kids decide they want to do a marathon across a 4 lane highway, that's all on them. WHY would the bus drop off the kids in such a hazard when they could make a u turn and drop the kids living on the opposite on their side of the street? It's kinda stupid to expect the kids to cross roads, i've always hated those school bus stop signs lol

@TVman1981 It would be interesting to look at the laws concerning the amount of lanes that must stop for a bus(with sign deployed and red lights illuminated). In many places it is only the drivers in the same direction that must stop if there are more then 2 lanes because the bus can not allow children to cross that many lanes of traffic. In this case the driver would have had to stop regardless, I do believe, because she was going the same direction as the bus.

@PyroJones007 In this case only the traffic in the same direction would be required to stop, the opposing traffic does not! It it were a two lane roadway both directions would have to stop, that is my understanding...

NO, $700 is a ridiculous fine for a ridiculous state. Bus drivers are some of the worst drivers I've seen. They tailgate (badly), speed (excess of 10 over the speed limit), and run stop signs. But for goodness sake when its time to let some kids off the bus you better darn well stop.
