Ocean Science Day, March 14, 2008, at the Lawrence Hall of Science. Activities covered topics such as animal sounds, camouflage and adaptation. Some activities included live marine animals.
UC Berkeley students developed this highly-interactive event and they will be on hand to facilitate investigations of ocean science and marine life. These students are part of Communicating Ocean Sciences to Informal Audiences (COSIA), a course designed to prepare UC Berkeley students to convey science to informal audiences.
COSIA is a 3 year, NSF-funded project that develops partnerships between universities and informal science education institutions such as aquariums and science centers. Through these partnerships, we help the next generation of ocean scientists learn how to more effectively communicate with the public about their research and their passion for ocean sciences. COSIA is a project of the Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence—California (COSEE-CA) at the Lawrence Hall of Science (LHS), University of California, Berkeley.
