What shifter did you use?

so does that thing stay cool enough without a fan?
-
some people say the rover v8 was based upon a buick, bit wasnt it the other way round that the buick was based on the rover.

Ahh yes, the SU carbs give away the UK source for the engine, in the states (GM production) they were conventional downdrafts.

Anyone know where I can buy a new Buick/Rover 215 in the crate?

That's really cool!

@ruwithlee1970 You are right in thinking the two engines are basically the same design, but they are quite different in detail. When Rover got hold of the Buick engine they did a lot of reworking to suit British production methods and British cars. Its a bit like the Buick vs Olds 215. Same basic engine design, but lots of differences in the detail. The only real difference between Rover and Olds is Rover didn't make the changes quite so obvious, except for the switch to SU carbs of course.

I don't know why people make a distinction between the buick 215 and the rover model there basically the same ? Rover bought the motor design in the 60's ! I would like to get the 255 model Alum engine for a buick regal ! An Aluminum v8 turbo cheaper than a custom enigine or built LS2 conversion and the dare to be different factor! I would how ever would use an MSD setup or a coil pack conversion for reliabllty reasons cool toy though!
Yep.
I use a cooler from Ford Fiesta, it´s inuff. The large exhaust stainless steel pipes and an uncovered alu-engine cool the engine down. And i´m not use any thermostat..

Correct, it´s a Rover 3.5 litre with a Borg-Warner two-speed tranny and rear axle from BMW 535. Fork and Pipes made of stainless steel..
