i hada teahc once that told me that u have ur hand right? thumb is no.1 pinky no.5 and u play 1 4 5 so if ur key is in C ur thumb is C so then u go up C D E F G so you play the chords C F G together and then the chord after that which would be sixth would be minor chord which would be Am and he told me it just keeps going like that. i didnt get to finish the lessons and i was wondering if u ever heard of anything like that?

walt, how would you suggest i really start learning about guitar and music. Im using wiliam leavitt book right now, but how can i learn to make music fast.

If you find it hard to understand the circle of fifths, just learn your scales in solfge (Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do) it will make things a lot more easier.
-
best way for u to understand that ur right is to try it..... but yes chords are the language of music

You didn't really explain why the circle of fifths is important other than it is a rule. What rules does it dictate? Like moving around in key. How moving from one scale to the next works and why. Maybe a followup?

If I said play in the key of A major - the ciorcle of fifths shows that A has 3 sharps. Those are the three sharpened notes in the piece. If you didn't know that then you would be playing outof key :)
